Guided by the insightful leadership of our Esteemed Navigators the Shalom Interact Club collaborated with India Leukemia Together and Interact District 3011 to present a meaningful Cancer Awareness Workshop on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. This impactful event, aimed at educating students from grades 9 to 12, offered valuable perspectives on cancer’s effects, fostering resilience, informed health choices, and the unwavering power of hope.
Student speakers from Shalom Hills—Kahini Desai, Chapter President and Branch Manager at India Leukemia Together, and Dhruv Dasgupta, Executive Team Member & Outreach Director—led insightful discussions on cancer prevention, early detection, and available treatment options, encouraging students to take an active role in their health. Key takeaways included proactive steps toward a healthier lifestyle, the importance of community support for individuals and families affected by cancer, and the need for awareness and advocacy. The workshop inspired students to make health-conscious choices, support cancer awareness efforts, and become symbols of hope within their communities.
The powerful message that “Cancer cannot cripple love, it cannot shatter hope, it cannot conquer the spirit” resonated deeply, reinforcing the Shalom Interact Club’s commitment to social responsibility and compassionate service in the face of life’s challenges.
