Shalom Presidency School’s Grade 5B assembly, held on April 15, 2025, was a beautiful tribute to Earth Week, thoughtfully themed “Protecting Our Planet: A Call to Action.”

The assembly commenced with a grounding and calming breathing exercise, led by the compere, inviting students to slow down, breathe deeply, and truly connect with the Earth and its many gifts.

Following this serene beginning, the morning prayer and a soul-soothing shloka set a reflective tone. The Word of the Day, “Sustainability,” was introduced with relatable examples, reinforcing the power of everyday actions—like recycling, conserving water, and planting trees—in building a greener future. The Thought of the Day echoed the shared global duty of caring for our planet, reminding everyone that environmental protection knows no boundaries.

In the news segment, students presented a balanced narrative—addressing pressing ecological issues while spotlighting hopeful global efforts to heal and restore the Earth. A moving poem followed, celebrating the essence of Earth Day and the impact of seemingly small yet meaningful actions.

The assembly culminated in a heartfelt pledge, with students promising to reduce plastic use, conserve water, and nurture nature.

Upholding Shalom’s strong ethos of environmental consciousness, the school renewed its commitment to safeguarding Mother Earth. The Head Mistress closed the assembly with a powerful message, urging all to remember that real change begins with mindful, small steps—each one contributing to a healthier, more sustainable.
