To mark the birth of Lord Krishna, the Janamashtami festival was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm by Grades 1 and 2 in Shalom Presidency School. The bright and joyful faces of children dressed up in traditional attire, lit the festive aura with the spirit of love, devotion, and faith. A special assembly was conducted by Grade 2 C that elaborated on how and why we celebrate this festival. The assembly started with a student welcoming and introducing the participants. After the prayer, shloka and thought for the day was shared. The children presented a melodious bhajan ‘ChotiChotiGaiyanChoteChoteGawal’ and few facts and teachings of Lord Krishna from the Bhagavad Gita. Little shalomites, dressed up as Lord “Krishna”, “Radha” and ‘Gopiyan’ set the stage on fire with their mesmerizing dance performance. The teacher reinforced the significance of the festival of Janamashtami. The assembly concluded with the students singing the School Anthem and National Anthem.
The excitement of the children knew no bounds as they wore beautiful Krishna mukut made by themselves.
