Shalom Presidency School hosted an enriching Meet the Author Session with acclaimed author and historian Dr Devika Rangachari on 5 October 2026 for students of Grades VI–VIII.

The session offered students an engaging opportunity to explore history through the stories of remarkable women whose contributions have often remained overlooked. Dr Rangachari introduced students to her Queen Series, featuring inspiring historical figures such as Queen Didda of Lohara, Prithvimahadevi, Rani of Jhansi and Princess Kundavai Pirattiyar.

The interaction focused on the representation and historical erasure of women, encouraging students to question whose stories are remembered and whose voices may have been left unheard. Students actively participated, asked insightful questions about historical research and storytelling, and shared suggestions for women and themes they would like to see explored in future works.

The session was a meaningful blend of literature, history and interactive learning, inspiring students to look beyond conventional narratives and develop curiosity, critical thinking and a deeper appreciation for diverse historical perspectives.
