Shalom Presidency School successfully organised the
National Youth Parliament 2026 on 6 October 2026 under the theme “Bhartiya
Democracy in Action.” Conducted under the National Youth Parliament Scheme of
the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the programme provided students with a
meaningful opportunity to experience parliamentary procedures and gain a deeper
understanding of democratic institutions.
Held in the School Auditorium, the programme
witnessed the active participation of 53 students from Grades IX–XII, with
students from the same grades attending the proceedings as an audience. The
young parliamentarians engaged in discussions and deliberations on national
issues and contemporary matters of public importance, expressing their views
with confidence while demonstrating the importance of respectful and informed
dialogue.
A special highlight of the programme was the presence
of Respected Sherpa and Vice-Chairman Sir, Mr Dennis George, who joined the
session and interacted meaningfully with the young parliamentarians. His
interaction with the students encouraged them to reflect on their future
responsibilities as citizens, think critically, understand different
perspectives and make informed and responsible decisions.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks,
followed by the National Anthem, marking the successful culmination of an
engaging and enriching Youth Parliament session.
The National Youth Parliament 2026 thus served as a
valuable experiential learning platform, empowering students to understand
democratic processes while nurturing confidence, leadership, critical thinking
and responsible citizenship.
