On 11th September 2024, Shalom Presidency School organised an insightful session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women (POSH) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), led by the School Counsellor for all teachers.
The session introduced the POSH Act, which addresses sexual harassment in the workplace, providing teachers with a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework, employer responsibilities, and steps for addressing and preventing such incidents. The process for filing complaints, conducting investigations, and ensuring redressal was thoroughly explained, helping participants grasp their rights and obligations under the law.
The POCSO Act was discussed at length. It is aimed at safeguarding children from sexual abuse and exploitation. Participants were informed about the various offences under the Act, including child sexual abuse and child pornography, and the serious consequences of such crimes.
